Treana and Hope Family Wines » Profile
The Hope family arrived in Paso Robles in 1978 and began planting wine grapes. They were among a handful of pioneering families who helped to shape and gain recognition for this distinctive winegrowing region.
After growing grapes and developing vineyards throughout the eighties and early nineties, they began producing estate wines under the Hope Farms label. They focused their farming efforts on varietals best suited to Paso Robles: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Treana was founded in 1996, the same year the Liberty School brand became part of Hope family of wines. Over time is has become abundantly clear to the Hope family that Paso Robles is capable of producing world - class wines. Hope Family Wines has since added Austin Hope, Troublemaker and Candor to their portfolio. They continue to craft elegant blends that capture the soul of their terroir.
After years of flying under the radar of tasting room enthusiasts, the Hope family has opened their barrel room to showcase their handcrafted wines. The tasting cellar is a contemporary take on a rustic barrel room and offers stunning views of the Hope Family Vineyard. Located just off of Highway 46 West, come and enjoy Treana and Austin Hope wines.
Treana Winery is the home to Treana Red, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from Paso Robles, and Treana White Viognier/Marsanne blend from Monterey County's Mer Soleil Vineyard. Treana also makes Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah. The name Treana symbolizes a trinity of natural elements - the sun, the soil, and the ocean - elements that make Paso Robles, and the rest of the Central Coast, an exceptional area for wine grapes.
Treana wines reflect local geography and climate: rolling hills, calcareous soils, sunny summer days tempered by cool afternoon ocean breezes and as much as forty-degree temperatures swings between day and night. The grapes respond accordingly, with good sugar levels and balanced acids.
The grapes that go into Treana also benefit from a good deal of knowledge, expertise and commitment to uncompromising quality.
Austin Hope Winery
Austin Hope was eight years old when he began working in his family's vineyard. It was here that he was introduced to the philosophy that defines the Hope family: great wines are made in the vineyard. Today, Austin is the President and Director of Winemaking for Hope Family Wines, where he oversees Treana and Austin Hope wines.
One of the goals of Austin Hope Winery is to make the best Syrah in California. "When I first tasted Côte Rotie, I fell in love," says Austin Hope. The pursuit took him to that very region in France, where he studied their vineyards and unique style of winemaking. Under the Austin Hope label, Syrah and Grenache are beautiful estate-grown examples of boutique, artisan winemaking at its best. It is easy to understand Austin's passion for working with high quality fruit by enjoying a glass of his dark and luscious syrah.
Liberty School Winery
Liberty School wines have a long history founded on quality, consistency and value. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah are made in a traditional style: fruit-driven, barrel-aged and crafted to reflect true varietal character. The wines are clear representations of their growing regions.
A big brand, made by a small, close family, Liberty School is the home of delicious wines that are easy to enjoy.
