Barrel 27 Wine Company » Profile
Barrel 27 started with the collaboration of two winemakers; McPrice Myers and Russell From.
Mac got into food and wine during his early twenties via his friends and coworkers at Trader Joe’s in Southern California. He soon began taking trips up to the Central Coast to just to taste, but quickly found himself volunteering his time on his days off to help out at a number of wineries. After learning the process for a few years and spending more and more time on the Central Coast, Mac was ready to start making wine for himself. It was about this time that Mac met another fledgling winemaker, Central Coast native Russell From.
Russell got his start in wine while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Agriculture program. Intending to become a farm equipment magnate, Russell began working at wineries mostly because they were hiring, but it wasn’t long before he ‘got the bug’ and began a serious study of winemaking. It wouldn’t be long before he met Mac Myers, and after several discussions, appropriate amounts of wine, and a punch-up or two, Barrel 27 was born to the words “Each bottle of this wine represents a dream realized by two friends”. And so it is.
We work. We work hard to make good wine. You work. You work hard and need good wine. You might have money, but maybe you’re like us. We make Barrel 27 wines for people like us. If you work, and we mean work hard, and you need to drink good wine, and still make your mortgage payments, car payments, kid payments and pet payments, we’re here for you.
Our goal is to make wine that works hard at helping hard working America relax for a minute, take a load off, and remove the nose from the grindstone for a while. We hope you enjoy them.
We focus on Rhone varietals purchasing fruit from select vineyards throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
