Ancient Peaks Winery » Profile

We are a family-owned winery specializing in wines from our sustainable farmed estate Margarita Vineyard on the historic Santa Margarita Ranch.

Estate Margarita Vineyard:

Margarita Vineyard stands alone as the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles AVA region, nestled into the rugged Santa Lucia Mountain range just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The name Ancient Peaks honors the tall peaks surrounding Margarita Vineyard, which were forged by the collision of the coastal plates. Over time, these same geologic forces blessed us with five distinct soil zones—ancient sea bed, sedimentary, shale, volcanic and granitic—that bring natural character and complexity to our wines.

Ancient Peaks Wines:

Our wines have earned 93 points from the Wine Spectator, 92 points from Wine & Spirits, 90 points from the Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, and “Steal of The Year” honors from Sunset Magazine, among other accolades. Our main estate wines are Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Renegade red blend. We also offer limited-edition “White Label” wines at our tasting room, including Malbec, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah and the Oyster Ridge red blend.

Vineyard, Ranch and Canopy Tours:

Experience Ancient Peaks wines from ground to glass as we take you on a gourmet guided tour of our estate Margarita Vineyard on the historic Santa Margarita Ranch.

From remarkable geological features to cutting-edge sustainable wine growing practices, you will discover the unique sense of place that shapes the wines of Ancient Peaks. Your 90-minute tour will also include a tasting flight of Ancient Peaks wines paired with select fine meats and artisan cheeses.

Santa Margarita Ranch was first planted to grapevines by Franciscan missionaries in 1780, initiating a tradition of wine growing and rancho hospitality that continues today. Join us for a tour and experience this tradition at its best.
