VINA ROBLES PRESENTS NEW ART EXHIBIT
“An Abstract Affair” Opens January 11, 2013
Paso Robles, CA— Beginning January 11, The Gallery at Vina Robles will showcase the abstract works of local artists Teresa Willenborg and Janice Pluma. The exhibit will run through March 31.
Both featured artists have been passionate about creating art all of their lives. Teresa Willenborg, the wife of Vina Robles’ winemaker Kevin Willenborg, holds a Master of Arts degree in Arts and Consciousness Studio Arts from John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, CA. Creating abstract paintings in oil, acrylic and mixed media, Teresa brings the inner life and imagination to physical form on canvas through the use of color, texture and contrast. “My work is influenced by nature or rather the experience of nature,” Teresa explains. “For example, painting what it feels like to be inside a wave or forest, not only looking at it, connotating a reverence or experience of transcendence, a oneness.” While remaining open to new ideas, she allows her work to lead her to authenticity.
Janice Pluma earned a degree in graphic design from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA and worked for various San Luis Obispo county newspapers and magazines, while continuing to spend her free time painting. In 1997, Janice formed a freelance business, Warpaint Graphics, specializing in print media. Today, she continues as a graphic designer while maintaining an active fine art career. “For many years, even before recycling became prevalent, I scoured fields, salvage yards, my neighborhood…any place that might be a source of non-traditional materials for my art. I think combining acrylic paint with metal, fabric, paper, glass – or whatever sparks my imagination, adds extra interest and dimension to my work,” Janice says. Janice is also the past president of the Paso Robles Art Association and a member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, SLOMA and Arts Obispo.
Both artists have shown in various solo and group exhibitions and will now exhibit their abstract works together at Vina Robles Winery. An artists’ reception will be held on January 25, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Vina Robles Hospitality Center in Paso Robles.
