The 30th Annual Paso Robles Wine Festival Kicks Off with a Futures Auction and

Paso Robles, CA (May 8, 2012) Futures of Paso Robles wine country are available to the highest bidder at the upcoming RESERVE event, Friday, May 18 from 3:30 – 6 p.m. at the Paso Robles Downtown Park. This unique event kicks off the 30th annual Paso Robles Wine Festival highlighting one wine from over 40 of Paso Robles’ best producers. Each participating winery selects the wine to pour, whether a Library, Reserve, White/Rosé, or Future wine; but only eight will be featured in the auction.

Wineries set to offer a taste into the future are Adelaida Cellars, Ancient Peaks, Caliza Winery, Cass Winery, Chateau Margene, Clavo Cellars, Still Waters Vineyards, and Twilight Cellars. In this creative spin on a silent auction, attendees vie for a future case of wine from these wineries via a handwritten wooden bid tablet. As a higher bid is placed the lowest falls to the ground in dramatic fashion. Winners are the last five remaining bids for each wine and receive their case of wine upon completed barrel and bottle aging.

“No other event celebrates the Paso Robles wine region as grand as this one,” said Carl Bowker, winemaker and owner of Caliza Winery. “I am honored to once again showcase at RESERVE, but I am also looking forward to all the great food this year.” Along with the award-winning wines of Paso Robles will be a culinary sampling from seven of the region’s best chefs and caterers. RESERVE is the preeminent Paso Robles wine and food experience that begins the three-day celebration known as Wine Festival Weekend.

Paso Robles Wine Country comes together for the Saturday Grand Tasting with a new time, from 12 – 4 p.m. More than 60 wineries will showcase the depth and breadth of wines found throughout the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA). A variety of gourmet food trucks will feature everything from Cuban cuisine, to fresh fare produced along the central coast. Back by popular demand will be the cheese, bread & FIJI Water stations as well as a collection of local artisans showcasing tasty bites throughout the park. In addition, Top Chef All-Star Marcel Vigneron will share his talents at the JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery booth.

The Downtown City Park of Paso Robles is not the only opportunity to enjoy Paso Robles wine; festivities continue throughout the weekend at over 150 individual wineries. Beginning Friday, May 18 and culminating on Sunday, May 20, wineries throughout the Paso Robles AVA will feature winemaker dinners, special tasting opportunities, release parties, vineyard and winery tours, and other exclusive events not offered throughout the year.

RESERVE tickets are $125 and available by advance purchase only at More information on other ticket levels as well as individual winery events can also be found at
