Internationally Inspired Cuisine Meets Paso Hospitality at the Wine Country Auction & Dinner

May 5, 2011 (Paso Robles, CA) Paso Wine Man returns in the latest Wine Festival video, An Auction of Action, the third in the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance series. In the most recent video, Paso Wine Man instigates a lackadaisical auction audience to begin a bidding war on a case of Paso Robles wine. The video pays homage to the Wine Country Auction & Dinner which takes place on Saturday, May 21, 2011 during the 29th Annual Wine Festival Weekend. The Wine Country Auction & Dinner (, now in it’s second year, features Paso (also known as “Cowboy”) hospitality, a one-of-a-kind live auction, and an internationally inspired, farm-to-table menu.

Leading the international dining experience for the evening is Paso Robles chef, Tom Fundaro, of Villa Creek Restaurant, who specializes in early, Spanish inspired, California cuisine. Joining Chef Fundaro is Chef Santos MacDonal of the authentic Italian Il Cortile Ristorante, French native, Chef Julie Simon, of Thomas Hill Organics, and Chef Chris Kobayashi of the American Bistro, Artisan Restaurant. Wine Festival event producers are also thrilled to welcome back guest, Chef Mark Sullivan, executive chef of Spruce in San Francisco and Park City who specializes in contemporary American, meets classic French cuisine. Auction goers indulge in a wine and hors d'oeuvre hour followed by a five course meal, featuring Hearst Ranch beef tartare, pork pate, Gnocchi de Ricotta and fresh tuna, just to name a few of the decadent menu items.

The evening culminates at the start of the live, Wine Country Auction. Guests raise their paddles to bid on lifestyle and wine country related items including signed, large format bottles, exclusive wine country getaways and exotic international cruises. Auctioneer, Todd Ventura, emanates Paso Hospitality, with contagious energy and signature cowboy hat. The online auction and a detailed list of auction items will be available on Monday, May 9.

“The cowboy hat featured in An Auction of Action ( is symbolic of the spirit of Paso Robles Wine Country,” said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. “The 2011 Wine Country Auction & Dinner upholds the Paso hospitality blended with modern elegance and international inspiration, featured in auction items, showcased in the evening décor and within the menu.”

Wine Country Auction & Dinner tickets are available on for $250. Auction ticket holders are allowed entrance to the Saturday Grand Tasting from 2 – 6 p.m. featuring nearly 80 wineries pouring over 400 wines. Auction goers are also encouraged to attend the Winemaker Seminar on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Downtown Park tent. Seats are limited and are available on a first come first serve basis on the day of the event. Wine Country Auction & Dinner ticket holders may also upgrade to the Weekend Pass for an additional $75 allowing them entrance to the Friday RESERVE event from 3:30 - 6 p.m.

RESERVE kicks off the weekend with over 50 wineries featuring reserve, library, power white/Rosé and futures. New to the 2011 RESERVE event is the addition of the Futures Auction, where guests have the chance to put their name on a case of unreleased wine. Funds raised through this auction, including the Wine Country Auction & Dinner, benefit San Luis Obispo County charities providing services in healthcare, education and greater community services.
