Paso Robles American Viticultural Area Committed to Viticulture Research

Paso Robles, CA (December 9, 2010) The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance announced its $10,000 donation to the American Vineyard Foundation (AVF) in support of research projects specific to the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA). The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance has contributed more than $55,000 to the AVF over the past seven years, making the Alliance a major contributor to the AVF among regional trade organizations.

“Our commitment to local vineyard research reinforces our commitment to quality wine production,” said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. “The American Vineyard Foundation is the lead organization to identify best practices through thoughtful and data driven research. As a leader and marquee region within the California wine industry it’s vital for the Paso Robles AVA to be a part of the long term sustainability of the vineyards in our region.”

A leader in maintaining industry progress, the AVF provides the unique opportunity to unify the grape and wine industry through collaborative research efforts. The AVF is a non-profit organization that relies on voluntary industry support for research funding. “Industry driven research is a key component to maintaining a global leadership position and we need to keep in step while we recognize that our global competitors are increasingly focusing resources in this area,” remarked Scott Deitrick, AVF Manager of Administration. “We greatly appreciate the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance’s contribution and look forward to setting new research in motion with these funds.”

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance is responsible for marketing and promotional programs designed to strengthen brand awareness locally, regionally and nationally, and attract wine enthusiasts to Paso Robles Wine Country. Focusing on both grower and vintner interests, the Alliance efforts include trade and consumer outreach, media relations, buyer tours, educational and research programs to ensure quality wine grape growing and wine production and legislative monitoring.

The Alliance also partners promotions, activities and educational opportunities with the Wine Institute, California Winegrape Growers (CAWG), California Sustainable Wine Growing Alliance, Central Coast Vineyard Team (CCVT), and Family Winemakers. The Alliance represents more than 500 members, including wineries, wine grape growers, hospitality partners and related associate businesses.

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance represents wineries, growers and businesses in Paso Robles Wine Country. Centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, along California’s Central Coast, Paso Robles Wine Country is California’s fastest growing wine region. It encompasses more than 26,000 vineyard acres and more than 200 wineries.
