PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY HOSTS SUCCESSFUL 2010 GRAND TASTING TOUR IN SAN DIEGO
Largest Showing of Paso Robles Wines Outside of the Region Targeted More than 1,200 Wine Enthusiasts

Paso Robles, CA (Mar. 10, 2010) – Paso Robles Wine Country, one of the nation’s premier wine producing regions, hit the road for its 2010 National Grand Tasting Tour with the first stop in San Diego this past February 23-25, 2010. Eleven tasting events were held during the three-day period. Southern California wine enthusiasts tasted over 150 Paso Robles wines during the Grand Tasting Tour San Diego through a series of events - winemaker dinners at six locations across the city; retail tastings at two Wine Steals locations; CRAVE geared to the millennial generation; and a consumer tasting at the new Wine Steals – East Village location.

“Southern California wine lovers are extremely enthusiastic about Paso Robles wine, and in returning to the market we wanted to position Paso winemakers in multiple wine buying venues to cater to those fans of Paso Robles wines,” said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. “The kick off to our 2010 Grand Tasting Tour touched over 1,200 wine enthusiasts; giving them a taste of Paso Robles Wine Country which translates into many compelling reasons to visit our nationally acclaimed wine region.”

The Grand Tasting Tour – San Diego featured 50 wineries and industry partners from Paso Robles, the largest single showing of Paso Robles wines outside of the region, providing San Diegans an exclusive experience of Paso Robles Wine Country. The region also partnered with marquee San Diego restaurants and retailers putting the spotlight on San Diego as one of the largest up-and-coming epicurean cities in America. Most notable was the partnership with the popular San Diego wine retailer Wine Steals, whose new East Village location provided the event space for the finale consumer Grand Tasting. “It was an honor to host the vintners from Paso Robles at our new location, prior to its official opening,” said Ken Mills, Wine Steals owner. “The opportunity to work together and showcase Paso Robles wines as the first wines to fill our space was a one-of-a-kind experience that may never happen again.”

The 2010 Grand Tasting Tour is the region’s sixth annual tour dedicated to bringing the Paso Robles Wine Country experience into top cities across the nation and the second visit to San Diego in two years. By attracting the wine trade and wine enthusiasts alike to various tasting events, it expands the brand awareness of Paso Robles wines. San Diego was chosen as the only stop in Southern California with three total Grand Tasting Tour events scheduled for the year.

The second leg of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance 2010 Grand Tasting Tour includes a visit to Northern California the week of April 19, 2010. Cities include – Sacramento and Menlo Park/Palo Alto.
