PASO ROBLES’ HISTORICAL SOCIETIES AND TOP EVENT RECEIVE SUPPORT OF THE WINE INDUSTRY
The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance to Sponsor the 2009 Pioneer Day Celebration on October 10

Paso Robles, CA (September 17, 2009) At the heart of Paso Robles Wine Country is the city of El Paso de Robles, whose rich history and sense of camaraderie is celebrated every October at the annual Paso Robles Pioneer Day. On Saturday, October 10, 2009 this festivity marks the 79th year of celebration. The wine community, whose history dates back to the late18th century, shares in the appreciation of Paso Robles’ roots and supports local historical events and societies. The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance continues this practice as a sponsor of the 79th Annual Paso Robles Pioneer Day.

“The Alliance is delighted to dedicate resources to continue the success of this annual tradition that my family has been a part of for generations,” said Cindy Steinbeck-Newkirk, fifth generation Paso Roblan and board member of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. “Maintaining a sense of history is an important attribute within the wine industry and Pioneer Day directly embraces that state of being in which we are proud to align ourselves.”

In 1931 the founding fathers of Paso Robles recognized the town’s pioneer families and since then, has dedicated one day, each year to celebrate the efforts of the community. Pioneer Day offers festivities that are free to all, birthing the term “Leave Your Pocketbook At Home.” In 2009 the tradition continues with a marquee hometown parade showcasing historical farm equipment, local service groups, children’s organizations, and all things that weave the fabric of the Paso Robles community. For more information on Paso Robles Pioneer Day and related activities, visit www.pasoroblespioneerday.org.

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance honors the community’s history beyond Paso Robles Pioneer Day. Each year the Alliance produces the Paso Robles Wine Country Tour Brochure and in the upcoming 2010/2011 edition, historical organizations will be recognized for their role in preserving and telling the history of the community. An entire section of the tour brochure will be dedicated to the following impactful organizations - Atascadero Historical Society, Cambria Historical Society, Camp Roberts Historical Museum, Estrella Warbird Museum, Mission San Miguel, Rios Caledonia Adobe, Paso Robles Children’s Museum, Paso Robles Historical Society, Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, Santa Margarita Historical Society and Templeton Historical Museum.

Each year, the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance prints more than 300,000 Tour Brochures distributed nationwide to consumers, media and wine trade. This valuable collateral piece features a map of the Paso Robles tasting rooms, winery, restaurant and hotels, as well as many other features complementary to the wine industry. The 2010/2011 edition will be available May 2010 with the current issue available at many of the area wineries as well as on www.pasowine.com.
