Since the Paso Robles Wine Festival's inception in 1983 the community's support serves as the foundation for the success of the region's most popular event. Working together, volunteers, wineries, restaurants, specialty shops and local businesses understand what it takes to make the event a sensation culminating the spirit of the local community. The popularity of Paso Robles wines in regional, national and international markets boosts the limelight of the region, positioning Wine Festival as the area's premier wine and food event.

Wine Festival brings thousands to the area who enjoy the diversity of attractions San Luis Obispo County and Paso Robles have to offer; wine tourists stay in hotels, dine in restaurants, shop in stores, and take home an experience to be shared with others.

"The popularity of the Locals Only Pass introduced in 2008 is a reflection of the support the local community has for Wine Festival," said Alex Villicana, Paso Robles Wine Festival committee co-chair and owner/winemaker of Villicana Winery. "We are excited to continue this special offering in 2009 thanking locals for their dedication and giving them another opportunity to demonstrate their pride as a local of Paso Robles Wine Country."

This year's festival showcases everything local from winemakers, to chefs and everything in between. Wine Festival attendees are encouraged to check out the Demonstration Kitchen, courtesy of Idler's Appliances, Artisan Alley featuring local epicurean delights and taste wine from more than 85 wineries. Samples of Hearst Ranch Beef and California Lamb will be prepared at the outdoor grilling station and local food vendors will sell specially created wine country cuisine guaranteed to send mouth watering aromas throughout the park. The event takes place in the Paso Robles Downtown City Park from 2 - 5 p.m. A free Park & Ride Shuttle to the city park is available beginning at 11:30 a.m. from the Paso Robles Event Center parking lot. Visit www.pasowine.com for more event information.

The Locals Only Pass is available by advance purchase only, until April 30.
