2008 Zinfandel Festival Proceeds go Toward Health and Educational Programs in Paso Robles

Paso Robles, CA (December 18, 2008) The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance gifted $30,000 to four North County community organizations that further the well being of the vineyard worker population at their annual December Membership Meeting. Proceeds were raised through live and silent auctions at the 16th Annual Zinfandel Festival held on March 15, 2008. This portion of the 2008 Zinfandel Festival proceeds focus on health and educational programs for the Paso Robles vineyard worker community.

"The Paso Robles Wine community is proud to give back to the population that makes so much of what we do possible," said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. "To date, the wine community has been able to contribute over $80,000 through funds raised at the annual Zinfandel Festival." The Wine Alliance was honored to present $30,000 in proceeds to the following organizations on December 16, 2008:

La Clinica de Tolosa Dental Clinic
•La Clinica de Tolosa is a non-profit children's dental clinic that establishes a dental home for dental treatment, prevention, emergent care, oral health education, outreach, referral and linkage for children ages 3 - 13 in San Luis Obispo County.

Paso Robles City Library
•The City Library has served Paso Robles for 100 years and is committed to help fund enhanced services, materials and programs, including the popular Summer Reading Programs.

North County Food Bank
•The North County Food Bank is dedicated to serving the vineyard worker community and has become a source for large-quantity donations or low-cost food to thousands of low-income residents located in North County, San Luis Obispo.

Paso Robles Children's Museum
•The Paso Robles Children's Museum purpose is to develop and maintain an interactive educational facility for the children, families, and educators in the Paso Robles community, while showcasing the heritage of the Paso Robles Volunteer Firefighters.

Zinfandel Festival Scholarship Program
•The Alliance will donate funds through a scholarship program to a north county student who would like to continue their education in viticulture and enology. This is a new program that the Alliance has implemented and more information on this scholarship will be available in 2009.

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance began its commitment to support the local community that supports the wine industry in 2006 with funds raised at the 14th Annual Zinfandel Festival. The wine country auction enriches the Zinfandel Festival by providing a charitable platform to an exciting marquee event in wine country. Festival goers are encouraged to bid on wine and lifestyle items that are not available through commercial or retail outlets. Auction lots include signed large format library wines, wine country getaway packages and the annual collaborative blend wine.

The 2009 Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival Weekend is set for March 20 - 22, 2009. New to the 2009 Festival is RESERVE, taking place Friday March 20 from 4 - 6 p.m. It is only at this unique component that guests will taste exclusive Zinfandel wines as well as have the opportunity to preview auction lots in advance of Saturday's Wine Country Auction. The Zinfandel Festival Wine Country Auction and Grand Tasting will take place Saturday, March 21 from 4:30 - 9:30 p.m. Tickets for these marquee events went on sale December 1, 2008. The event weekend will again be filled with individual events at the area wineries. Visit in January to view individual events and plan your Zinfandel Festival weekend.
