5 MILE BRIDGE WINERY LAUNCHES ONLY BRAND EXCLUSIVELY FROM PROPOSED SANTA MARGARITA RANCH AVA
Industry Veteran Vance Rose Hired as General Manager

5 Mile Bridge, the first wine brand from the proposed Santa Margarita Ranch AVA on the Central Coast of California, will launch in August. The first vintage will include Zinfandel and Syrah, both made exclusively from grapes grown on Margarita Vineyard in Santa Margarita, CA. 5 Mile Bridge has hired wine industry veteran Vance Rose as General Manager. Rose brings more than 25 years of experience to the project, covering every facet of the business.

"We have worked with the fruit from this vineyard for almost three years, and have been laying the groundwork for this new brand for over a year--we are excited that the time has come to bring in a General Manager," says Tom Habbick, 5 Mile Bridge Project Manager. "Vance comes to us with expertise not only in all three tiers of the wine business, he has successfully launched multiple high-image brands, managed dramatic growth brands, and turned unprofitable wineries into money-makers. He is an integral part of our team, and a critical asset. We are very much looking forward to working with him to get our 5 Mile Bridge wines in the bottle and in the hands of consumers."

Currently in the application stage, the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA lies in the southernmost section of the Paso Robles appellation. "We are excited to see this AVA come to fruition," says Rose. "This is truly a unique part of Paso Robles, and deserves to be recognized and set apart as wines made from grapes grown here have an indigenous vibrant character."

The proposed AVA is classified as a cool Region II, with a pronounced maritime influence from the Pacific Ocean only 14 miles away. Warm sun-filled days allow the grapes to fully ripen during the growing season, and cool air flowing down from the Santa Lucia Range at sunset preserves essential acids. These conditions, along with restrictive soils (shale, limestone, decomposing granite, alluvial sand, volcanic tuft and ancient marine shell deposits) produce distinctively balanced fruit with deep color and rich, full flavors.

Named for a crossing on the border of the historic Santa Margarita Ranch, 5 Mile Bridge represents the first wine brand produced solely from the proposed Santa Margarita Ranch AVA, located within the Paso Robles appellation on the Central Coast of California. The initial launch in August, 2007 will include Zinfandel and Syrah, both Margarita Vineyard designated. www.5milewine.com.
