Event at Broward Center for Performing Arts benefits Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance will launch its 2007 Grand Tasting Tour in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, February 13. More than 30 wineries will showcase wines from the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA) at the Broward Center for Performing Arts with events scheduled throughout the day for wine trade, media and consumers to taste the distinct differences of wines from Paso Robles, located along California’s Central Coast.

"South Florida is an exciting market to develop given that Florida is the top travel destination in the world, the second greatest wine-consumption state, and the economic gateway to Latin & South America," said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. "As one of the leading wine region’s in California it’s important for Paso Robles to strengthen market share in South Florida."

Hear from a panel of Paso Robles winemakers and learn how the region is well suited for producing premium wines during this technical seminar. Taste wines produced from the region’s diverse soils combined with warm days and cool nights, which make the Paso Robles AVA optimal for growing more than 40 wine varieties.

Walk-Around Tasting – 2-5 p.m. (Abdo New River Room)
Join us to meet the producers of more than 30 wineries featuring more than 150 wines from the growing Paso Robles AVA to taste what makes the region’s wines distinct and different. Wineries are looking to find distributors and educate key accounts to grow market share in Fort Lauderdale for Paso Robles wines.

WINE ENTHUSIAST EVENTS
Walk-Around Wine and Food Tasting: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (Abdo New River Room)
This is your chance to experience Paso Robles Wine Country in Fort Lauderdale. Robert Parker recently wrote "…Paso Robles will be as well known as the Napa and Sonoma Valleys." Meet the producers and taste wines from more than 30 Paso Robles wineries while sampling an array of foods. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the South Florida Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation—granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions for over 20 years.
