Submissions Open Today; August 29 Reception Offers More Info

PASO ROBLES, CA—The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance announced today that submissions for artwork for the 2007 Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival are now being accepted for review by the 2007 Paso Robles Zinfandel Committee. Additionally, an artists’ reception on Tuesday, August 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Vinoteca Wine Bar in downtown Paso Robles (835 12th Street), offers interested artists an opportunity to learn more about the submission process and ask questions of organizers. One piece of artwork will be selected to become the flagship artwork for the 2007 Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival, scheduled for March 17, 2007. This is an open call to all artists, with a $500 commission available.

In 2006, the Zinfandel Festival drew nearly 1,000 participants, and the flagship artwork created by Nona Haydon, framed and paired with a large format bottle of the Zinfandel Festival Commemorative Blend, earned $5,000 at the 2006 festival’s auction. Proceeds from the event benefit healthcare and education for the vineyard worker community in Paso Robles.

"The local art community is such a great contributor and complement to our industry," said PRWCA Executive Director Stacie Jacob. "Last year’s piece was spectacular. There is so much talent in our area; we can hardly wait to see what comes in for this year."

The selected artwork will appear on the Commemorative Blend label, Zinfandel Festival auction booklet, festival brochure, posters and other promotional materials. The artist will receive credit on all materials and have the opportunity to display and sell other artwork at a downtown Paso Robles business prior to the festival, and have a display area at the 15th annual Zinfandel Festival on March 17, 2007. The original will be professionally framed and auctioned at the Zinfandel Festival live auction.

For more information and application materials, interested artists can visit or call the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance at 805.239.8463, or stop by Vinoteca Wine Bar on August 29 between 5 and 7 p.m. to pick up materials, learn more, view last year’s promotional materials and enjoy a casual wine reception. Vinoteca Wine Bar is located at 835 12th Street, across from the downtown city park, in Paso Robles. Please RSVP to 805.239.8463 if planning to attend the reception. Artists’ packets will also be available following the reception at the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance office, 744 Oak Street in Paso Robles.
