Event at Crushpad also features live reality TV show casting call

PASO ROBLES, CA April 3, 2006 – The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance will hold its first ever 2006 Grand Tasting event in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 2. Thirty-nine wineries will showcase wines from the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA) at Crushpad,
San Francisco’s community winery located in the heart of the city, with events scheduled throughout the day for wine trade, media and consumers to taste the distinct differences of wines from Paso Robles, located along California’s Central Coast.

"We’re excited that Paso Robles winemaking community has joined together to represent the region in San Francisco," said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. "As one of the leading regions in California, it’s important for Paso Robles to share its story and showcase its world-class wines to the San Francisco market."

Trade/Media Seminar – 1-2 p.m. – Limited Seating, Reservations Required
Hear from a panel of Paso Robles winemakers and learn why the region is well suited for producing premium wines during this technical seminar. Taste wines produced from the region’s diverse soils, warm days and cool nights, which make the Paso Robles AVA optimal for growing more than 40 wine varieties.

Walk-Around Tasting – 2-5 p.m.
Meet the producers of 39 wineries featuring more than 150 wines. This is an excellent opportunity to sample a diverse array of the Paso Robles AVA’s top wines while discovering what makes the region distinct.

Wine and Food Tasting: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

New Wine Maker Reality TV Show Casting Call: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
As you enjoy the wine tasting you may also view the casting call of a new winemaker reality TV series for PBS — The Wine Makers — to be filmed in Paso Robles Wine Country during fall 2006. The producers will be on site interviewing potential candidates who are interested in becoming a cast member on this new reality TV show.
