February 1 event at Fox Theatre targets trade, media and consumers; also features live casting call

Paso Robles wineries hit the national marketing circuit with a 2006 Grand Tasting Tour, which will make its first stop in Atlanta on Wednesday, February 1. Twenty-five wineries will showcase wines from the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA) at the Fox Theatre, with events scheduled throughout the day for wine trade, media and consumers to taste the distinct differences of wines from Paso Robles, located along California’s Central Coast.

"Atlanta is a key market for the Paso Robles wine industry," said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. "We are excited to kick-off our 2006 marketing tour here and introduce the wine trade and consumers to our growing region."

Hear from a panel of Paso Robles winemakers from Eberle, EOS and Justin Vineyards & Winery, and learn how the region is well suited for producing premium wines with a guided tasting. Taste wines produced from the region’s diverse soils combined with warm days and cool nights, which make the Paso Robles AVA optimal for growing more than 40 wine varieties.

Walk-Around Tasting – 2-5 p.m.
Join us to meet the producers of 25 wineries featuring more than 100 wines from the growing Paso Robles AVA to taste what makes the region’s wines distinct and different. Wineries are looking to find distributors and educate key accounts to grow market share in Atlanta for Paso Robles wines.

Walk-Around Wine and Food Tasting - 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
This is your chance to experience Paso Robles Wine Country in downtown Atlanta. Meet the producers and taste wines from 25 Paso Robles wineries while sampling an array of foods from Affairs to Remember Catering. Purchase your $40 ticket at in advance, limited availability.

New Winemaker Reality TV Show Casting Call – 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
As you enjoy the wine tasting you may also view the casting call of a new winemaker reality TV series for PBS—The Winemakers—to be filmed in Paso Robles Wine Country during fall 2006. The producers will be on site interviewing potential candidates who are interested in becoming a cast member on this new reality TV show.
