HIDDEN MOUNTAIN RANCH WINERY HAS SOLD
Paso Robles, Ca- Hidden Mountain Ranch Winery, built in 1975 and designed by pioneer Paso Robles winemaker Dr. Stanley Hoffman, located in the hills outside the town of Paso Robles on the Central Coast of California has sold to Richard and Aurora Gumerman of Thunderbolt Junction Enterprises.
Hoffman is considered the godfather of the modern Central Coast wine industry, laying the groundwork for generations of winemakers. His Hoffman Mountain Ranch Winery now referred to as Hidden Mountain Ranch Winery was the first large-scale modern facility in the area. To those who know the history of winemaking along California’s Central Coast, the Hoffman Mountain Ranch wines are something of a legend. His wine put Paso Robles on the map, when they entered it in a blind tasting in Europe in the late ’70s and it beat Romanée-Conti. People from all over the world started coming to see the winery and the Gumermans plan to revive the winery to its glory days.
For the Gumerman’s, formerly of Wisconsin, winemaking started as a hobby and has turned into their life’s passion. They wanted to get out of the day to day rat race of corporate jobs and city life and move to the country and pursue their dreams.
The sale included the winery and equipment with a capacity of over 25,000 cases, wine inventory, 115 acres, two residences and various other structures.
The winery is in full swing this harvest and, according to its ecstatic new owner Richard Gumerman, "The phones have not stopped ringing with local growers and wineries looking for production capacity".
The transaction was facilitated by WineryX Real Estate of St. Helena. The brokerage has commercial and lifestyle winery listings and represents winery and vineyard buyers throughout the state.
