Reception Sept. 22 to outline 2006 Zinfandel Festival

PASO ROBLES, CA—The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance (PRWCA) will host an open Artists’ Reception at Vinoteca Wine Bar in downtown Paso Robles Thursday, September 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The reception marks the beginning of preparations for the 14th Annual Zinfandel Festival, scheduled for March 18, 2006, and is the first opportunity for artists to learn how they can be involved in the event. A call will be issued for those wishing to contribute concepts for the flagship artwork used on all Zinfandel Festival promotional materials, including submission criteria and deadlines.

"The local art community is such a great contributor and complement to our industry," said PRWCA Executive Director Stacie Jacob. "There is so much talent in our area; we can hardly wait to see how the concepts come out. But first, we need to get everyone together, show them what’s been done and give direction for where we want to go."

Food and wine for the reception will be provided by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and the 2006 Zinfandel Festival Committee. The invitation is open to all artists interested in being commissioned to create artwork for the Zinfandel Festival, which attracts thousands from around the country each year.

The selected artwork will appear on the Commemorative Blend Label, Zinfandel Festival Auction Booklet, Festival Brochure, posters and other promotional materials. The artist will receive credit on all materials, display artwork at downtown Paso Robles businesses, display and sell artwork at the 14th Annual Zinfandel Festival Grand Tasting and have their own Artist Reception, hosted by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and the Zinfandel Festival Committee, prior to the March festival. The original artwork will be professionally framed and auctioned at the Zinfandel Festival Live Auction on March 18, 2006.

For artists wanting to work with the wine industry, this reception provides an opportunity to network and hear directly how to become involved.

Vinoteca Wine Bar is located at 835 12th Street, across the street from the park in Downtown Paso Robles. Please RSVP at 805.239.8463 if planning to attend. For those unable to attend, an informational artists’ packet will be available following Thursday’s launch reception through or at the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance office, 744 Oak Street, Paso Robles.

Paso Robles Wine Country is centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, along California’s Central Coast. As California’s fastest growing wine region, the 40-mile territory encompasses over 25,000 vineyard acres and nearly 100 wineries. With a greater day-to-night temperature swing than any other appellation in California, Paso Robles is an optimal area for producing more than 25 wine varieties.
