New Vintages Earn 90 Point Rating and Best of Show Award

PASO ROBLES, CA – Silver Stone’s early vintages have caught the attention of one of the most sought after wine critics, Jim Laube, earning an outstanding score of 90 points on their Chardonnay. In addition, their Syrah took home the coveted Best of Show Award at the California Mid-State Fair’s Central Coast Wine Challenge.

"We’re very excited about these recent accolades," says Owner/Winemaker Dan Kleck. "This is the first time we’ve made a concerted effort to get our wines out to the press, and it has definitely paid off. It’s really gratifying to get this much positive feedback so early in the game – these wines represent only our first and second vintages."
Jim Laube of Wine Spectator Magazine bestowed a 90 point rating on the Silver Stone 2003 Chardonnay, Santa Maria Valley, Bien Nacido Vineyard in the July 13, 2005 issue of Wine Spectator Insider. He says this wine "Bursts with ripe apple and tropical fruit. The flavors are smoky and buttery and show remarkable complexity, and there's a shot of acidity that neatly ties up the fruit and light oak on the finish. Drink now through 2008." It is one of only four Central Coast 2003 Chardonnays to garner a score of 90 or higher, and is the least expensive one in the group.

This endorsement came on the heels of the California Mid-State Fair’s Central Coast Wine Challenge, where Silver Stone won the prestigious Best of Show Award for their 2003 Paso Robles Syrah. They beat out more than 80 wineries from Monterey, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, who entered over 250 wines. In addition, Silver Stone won a Gold Medal for their 2003 Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo Pinot Noir, and Silver Medals for their 2003 Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay and 2002 Paso Robles Syrah.
