PASO ROBLES BRINGS AWARD WINNING WINES TO SEATTLE


PASO ROBLES, CA June 1, 2005 — In the final stop in its four-city "Grand Tasting Tour",
28 Paso Robles wine producers are coming to Seattle on Monday, June 6, 2005, to bring their nationally-recognized wines to the northwest market. Offering local media, restaurants, and distributors the opportunity to sample over 100 wines, and talk directly to the winemakers, the Grand Tasting is a unique opportunity for the region to showcase its award-winning wines.

Hosted by The Waterfront Seafood Grill, on Pier 70, the walk-around tasting will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m., and will be free to the media and trade. For those interested in the seminar, it begins at 1 p.m. featuring Neil Roberts, Viticulture Management Inc.; Stephan Asseo, L’Aventure and Austin Hope, Treana Winery. Following the trade event, the wineries are also offering consumers an opportunity to taste from 5:30 to 7 p.m., for a $25 admission fee. The Paso Robles wine region is now the fastest growing wine appellation in California. The Paso Robles Grand Tasting Tour is in its first year, and is "a unique and personal way to introduce our extraordinary wines and wine producers to Seattle, as well as the rest of the country," according to Stacie Jacob, Executive Director of the Paso Robles Vintners and Growers Association.

Several local restaurants and wine shops are planning tastings and promotions throughout the month to coincide with the Paso Robles event. Those include:

• Pike & Western — Friday, June 3; 3 - 6 p.m. – in-store tasting featuring Tablas Creek
• DeLaurenti’s — Saturday, June 4; 2 – 4 p.m. – in-store tasting featuring Treana,
Wild Horse Vineyards and Peachy Canyon Winery
• Esquin — Saturday, June 4; 1-4 p.m. – in-store tasting featuring Tablas Creek Vineyard
• Seattle Cellars — Saturday, June 4; 1-4 p.m. – in-store tasting featuring Vina Robles and Justin Winery & Vineyards
• Purple Café & Wine Bar — Sunday, June 5; 5-8 p.m. – winemaker and winery representatives from Treana, Tablas Creek and Wild Horse featuring Paso Robles Wine flights, trivia and special sweep stakes for a trip to Paso Robles Wine Country during the October Fall Harvest Tour. In addition, Purple Café & Wine Bar will offer Paso Robles wine flights throughout June featuring Justin Vineyards & Wine, Ridge, L’Aventure and Tablas Creek Vineyard. Each flight will range from $20-$25
• Lark Restaurant – Monday, June 6; winemaker dinner featuring Tablas Creek and Washington State’s McCrea Cellars
