PASO ROBLES’ JANKRIS WINERY KEEPS ON WINNING
2002 Viognier lands Riverside competition’s prestigious Chairman’s Award
The first quarter of 2004 has been very good to JanKris Winery. This family-owned winery has taken home over three dozen medals at wine competitions across the country in just the first three months of the year.
Most recently JanKris triumphed at the 2004 Riverside International Wine Competition, winning the Chairman’s Award for their 2002 Viognier, a gold medal for the 2002 Merlot, and four silver medals for their 2002 Syrah, 2002 Crossfire blend, 2002 Zinfandel, and 2002 Merzin blend.
"Winning the prestigious Chairman's Award has far exceeded our expectations, and validated our belief in this Rhone varietal," states Mark Gendron, owner, and winemaker, of JanKris Wines.
Gendron also noted that being singled out of a select group of wineries such as Kendall-Jackson, Renwood and Paso Robles peer Eberle Winery, "made the award all the more sweet."
Earlier this year JanKris garnered four silver medals from the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and one bronze.
Other competitions in which JanKris competed and won include: The Dallas Morning News 2004 Wine Competition; the New World International Wine Competition; the Hilton Head, South Carolina Wine Competition; the Grand Harvest Competition in Santa Rosa; and the Florida State Fair where JanKris’ 2002 Syrah brought home the gold!
